Australian white ibis

Ibises are pretty cool birds (you can even see them in ancient Egypt hieroglyphics). However in Sydney they have been reduced to merely being known as “bin chickens” - a stinky pest of a bird that spends its time eating out of trash cans. Now having some distance from the Ibis (being far, far away in Japan) I have kind of developed a soft spot for it.

Although it looks pretty similar to the African sacred ibis (that shows up in those hieroglyphics) the one in Australia is our own native species according to Wikipedia.
