If you’re in Shibuya, there is a coffee spot I really like called Coffee Supreme, which I’ve mentioned previously in my post on walking between Shibuya and Harajuku. The barista who works there was a super friendly dude - he even had one of his notebooks on display that you could flick through to see his coffee pouring notes. The last time we visited though, he mentioned he was moving to Germany to work at a cafe instead so I suppose someone else must be working there now.
I had actually assumed Coffee Supreme was a Japanese brand - the name is a little bit weird-sounding (sorry) which sort of made me assume it was Japanese. Also, it has no relation to the Supreme clothing brand in case you were wondering, even though their logo is the same bright red.
It actually originated in New Zealand, and has multiple branches in Australia as well. So when I recommended this place to my coffee-loving work colleague who was planning on visiting Japan, it turned out he regularly orders their beans from one of the Australian locations.
… in one sense, I did a pretty good job of recommending him a coffee place if he likes it enough to stay stocked up on their beans.
Their beans are a tad on the expensive side for Tokyo - 1780 yen / 150g for a bag of their house blend. As a reference, I can get a 200g bag of single origin beans for around the same price from other local coffee roasters. But you also get a free cup of coffee out of it, which turns it into a pretty good deal.
And so I would recommend being tactical in your visit. I made the mistake of going in the afternoon once, and I generally have a rule of not drinking coffee after midday so I had to sadly give most of the cup to my husband to drink, oops!
