Sightseeing around Kushiro and Lake Akan

While in the area for the Mt Meakan hike, we also did some sightseeing on our non-hiking days.

We spotted a family of red-crowned cranes in the town of Tsurui!
Lake Mashu, apparently one of the clearest lakes in the world (but also prone to a lot of fog)
Mt Io. You can't climb this one, but it's an active volcano known for its sulphurous steam vents.
Close to Lake Onneto was its hot spring waterfall.
