Viticulture

Viticulture

In Viticulture, you plant grapes, harvest them, turn them into wine, and then sell them. Selling wines give you points, and you’ll need a certain number of points to win the game.

It’s a lot of fun!

We have a lot of 2-player boardgames, so the good thing about Viticulture is that it works well for 2 players as well as 3 players (when my husband’s brother comes to hang out). There’s an additional “bonus card” system for 3-player mode which spices things up a bit, and makes for a bit of a different play style if you play 2 player vs 3 player.

The one con is that once you begin losing, it’s kind of obvious and it’s a bit hard to claw your way back to a victory. You can end up in a state of bad luck as well, as you have to decide which grapes to put in your fields (red or white) and then it’s dependent on which “sell order” cards you draw, which determine the types of wine you need to make and sell. e.g. if you have a lot of red grapes, but then keep getting sell orders for white wines, you will be in a bit of a pickle.
