Pacific reef heron

The Pacific reef heron basically looks like the dark mode version of a little egret or great egret. The Wikipedia page mentions it comes in an entirely white version as well, at which point you can imagine it would be very hard to tell the difference from the other egrets.

Interestingly the English name makes it sound like a bit more of a distinct species, while in Japanese it’s literally called a “black egret”.
